The Rigid Base (Kadiyam Structure)
Unlike conventional pattilu made of flexible woven silver chains, the Kadiyala model uses a semi-rigid or solid circular pipe-like frame. The word kadiyam translates to a thick bangles or cuff. This structural base gives the anklet a clean, defined shape around the ankle that stays in place rather than sagging or tangling.
2. The Sounding Bells (Gajjelu)
Along the lower perimeter or integrated throughout the band are small metallic bells (ghungroos or gajjelu).
Cluster Style: Bells arranged in small clusters of three or four, giving a rich, rhythmic chime.
Continuous Rim: A uniform fringe of bells hanging along the entire length of the lower edge.
